Allmar Surprise Beats The Boys

Victor Kirby and Matthew Ivory’s trotting mare Allmar Surprise ($14.20, Kirby) scored a 1:57 win Wednesday against a field of five male rivals in the $21,700 Junior Open Trot

Kirby sent Allmar Surprise for the lead at the quarter-mile mark, and cruised to fractions of :28.4, :57.4 and 1:27.2. He opened up three lengths on the field in the stretch for a decisive score over Fivedollarsforsox and Safari Heat.

Kirby also trains the talented four-year-old Angus Hall mare, who has the all-aged track record at Harrington for mares (1:55.3).

On October 4, the Mildred Williams Driving Series returns to Harrington as eight of the sport’s top female drivers will compete in the program’s fourth race. The drivers are donating their proceeds to benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. There will also be a fundraiser held throughout the night to benefit the organization. Making the trip to Harrington to drive will be Kelly Case, Megan Fortna, Doreen Dailey, Elisabeth Jansen, Ann Larsen, Tammy Mac Kay, Stacy Chiodo and Anita Valstad.
