The 2024 Fall Meet is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Flamboro Downs with eight races on the opening day program.

Post time is 6:35 p.m and the featured $11,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace goes postward in race six with six mares lining up on the car. Despite the outside post, Gias Surreal was given the slight nod as the 8-5 morning line favourite. Tyler Moore will take the Donald Lindsey student to the gate as she looks to keep her perfect Flamboro record intact after winning her only two starts here in the Mares Preferred late last year. The eight-year-old So Surreal mare has a record of 2-3-5 in 24 starts this year competing mostly at Woodbine Mohawk Park and is the class of the field with 37 career wins, a mark of 1:49.3 and more than $1 million banked. She was a winner most recently two starts back over the Hanover Raceway half-mile oval in the Gail Murray Invitational.

Driver Anthony Haughan had his choice from trainer Blake MacIntosh's JM Betonsix (9-5) from the coveted inside post position and Gabiella Sasso's Twin B Tipster (4-1) one spot over in post two. He will drive JM Betonsix, a six-year-old mare who is closing in on $300,000 in career earnings with 18 lifetime wins -- four of those earned this season. Daryl Thiessen will pick up the catch-drive on Twin B Tipster, an eight-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight with $375,986 in career earnings and 19 wins; she earned just one of those victories this year.

Another mare to watch is Watch Her Dewitt, who is 7-2 on the morning line and will start from post four with Jason Ryan driving for trainer Shayne Barrington. The four-year-old Hes Watching mare has proven she knows how to win, having earned 14 of her 16 career victories this year to put her bankroll in six-figure territory. Tied for most wins by a pacing mare in Canada so far in 2024, Watch Her Dewitt's 14 wins include five in a row this past spring at Mohawk while climbing the claiming classes and she is coming off back-to-back, late-August victories at Grand River Raceway.

The Vernon Cochrane-trained Saulsbrook Olympia (9-2), starting from post five with Colin Kelly, and Betternotmachme (6-1), leaving from  post three for the driver and trainer team of Travis and Jodie Cullen, round out the field.

Flamboro will race on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through the end of September. Starting in October, races will run on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through to the end of December, except for Dec. 25. First post time is 6:35 p.m. on each day besides Sunday, which has a first post time of 6:55 p.m.
