Despite a heavy downpour that delayed the Thursday, Sept. 28 card of racing at Dayton Raceway, it was Gold Digger King who sought victory in the $25,000 Open Pace.
Leaving from post six, Gold Digger King used his early speed to his advantage making every pole a winning one through fractions of :27.1, :55.2 and 1:22.2 en route to a 1:50.1 victory by a length over race favourite Bernie and third-place finisher Angers Bayama.
The victory was the 34th career win for the son of Pet Rock who was driven by regular pilot Tyler Smith for trainer Scott Mogan and owner Linda Van Camp.
Gold Digger King paid $2.30.
