Red Star Hottie (James Burke) motored off the gate from Post 3 and laid down opening panels of :27.4 and :57.3. The six-year-old daughter of Faldo Hanover-Big Five eventually gained the upper hand thanks to a :28 second final frame. She prevailed by three-quarters of a length in 1:54 flat over Red Star Hottie and Second Fancy (Don Monkman, Jr.).

Masse also trains the winner of 28 races and $455,777 for owner Jarm Investments Ltd. of Beaumont, Alta.
