In advance of the final Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg next Friday (Oct. 2), rookie trotter Three Six Zero tightened with a solid qualifying mile on Friday, Sept. 25 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With driver Doug McNair at the controls, Three Six Zero sat the pocket early behind Verily (Louis-Philippe Roy) through an opening quarter of :28.3. McNair moved Three Six Zero from the pocket to take over control down the backside ahead of the moderate 59-second half. The son of Muscle Mass-Feel Invincible As picked up the tempo with a 1:27.4 third quarter and then trotted home in :27.4 for the 1:55.3 score. Verily stayed close to the McNair helmet through the stretch to finish second, 1-3/4 lengths back, with Kountry Cantab (Trevor Henry) rounding out the top trio.
Kyle Fellows trains Three Six Zero, a three-time winner with eight top-three finishes (3-3-2) from nine starts and $166,885 in earnings. Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood, Ont., Blair Corbeil of Leduc, Alta., Windermere Stable LLC of New York, N.Y. and Hopkins Porter of Chesley, Ont. are the owners.
