The third leg of the Island Oceans Trot Challenge, presented by Burkie By The Bay Stables, takes to the track on Thursday evening, Sept. 26 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 12-dash presentation has a 6 p.m. opening post time with the $5,300 Island Oceans Trot leg in race 10.
Irish Ray (pictured above) has rail control as the morning line favourite for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, P.E.I. Adam Merner picks up the catch-drive on the former Atlantic Canadian champion son of Muscle Through It. Irish Ray won his last outing in 1:58.1 with New Legacy finishing second that day.
New Legacy (Jason Hughes) has post two for trainer Jennifer Doyle this week. Also in the field are Labero (Gilles Barrieau), Tequila Tuesday (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Majian Tango (Ken Murphy) and Chasin Dreams (Marc Campbell).
The Post Time Picks goes with New Legacy on top: “New Legacy did the heavy-lifting on the outside from outside posts in his last two starts but still managed to finish runner-up against a great group of trotters. The move back inside to post two makes him my top choice.”
Race five is the Town Of Stratford Pace with Ill Tell Me Ma the top selection from post two for driver Brett Leblanc and owner/trainer Scott Dunn of Montague, P.E.I.
The featured fillies and mares pace lines up in race 11 for a $3,200 purse. Shake N Blake (David Dowling) joins the Doyle stable and has post two for her new owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe, P.E.I. The field also contains Rock N Roll Cays (Hughes), Dollys Sky (Kyle Desroche), Share The Moment (Marc Campbell), Tobins Future (Corey MacPherson), Outrageous Style (Barrieau) and Saulsbrook Feisty (Paul Langille).
