Screen Test guarded the rail and found himself first at the wire in Saturday night's (Sept. 25) $3,400 Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Corey MacPherson engineered the winning trip, aggressive from the start with Screen Test and controlling the tempo through fractions of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:27.2. The Ron Gass trainee found himself under siege in the final panel, but hung on for a neck decision in 1:55.1 over Cowboy Logic (Steven Shepherd) and favourite Bugsy Maguire (Adam Merner), who finished third.

Kickin Horse Stable shares ownership of Screen Test with William Andrew.

The Mike McGuigan barn clicked for a pair of victories, winning with Check Your Source (1:58) and Woodmere Bankroll (1:59.3). McGuigan drove both of his victorious trainees.

Trainer Earl Watts notched his 500th career victory when Shadow of a Daut scored in 1:57.3 with driver David Dowling.

Two matinee finals also highlighted the evening card. Intrepidus with driver Chris MacKay won the opening final in 2:10.3 for owner Heather Gamester, while driver Brett Clow guided Painted Pony to a 2:03.1 victory in the second matinee final for owner Raymond White.

Live racing continues Monday evening (Sept. 27) at Red Shores Summerside, featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for three-year-old pacers, the Atlantic Ages Pacing Mares Series and the Island Oceans Trot Classic. Opening post time is 6:30 p.m.
