Credit List (Justin Huckabone) and Chatelroll (Frank Affrunti) won their respective $7,000 co-features at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Sept. 25).
Credit List ($4.40) captured the $7,000 Open Trot.
Spoiler Alert (Truman Gale) and Discus Hanover (Leon Bailey) both battled for the lead. Discus Hanover got the lead just before hitting the first quarter in :27, but yielded to Credit List, who brushed to the lead at the top of the backstretch and controlled middle splits of :56.1 and 1:25. As they made the turn for home, Jenny Lake came full-out on the chase, but Credit List was too strong and won easily is 1:54.2. Jenny Lake had to settle for second; Spoiler Alert finished third.
Credit List is a six-year-old gelding by Credit Winner owned by Jonathan Appelbaum and trained by Huckabone. It was his 11th win this season and 22nd of his career.
Chatelroll ($7.20) rolled to an easy win in the $7,000 Open Pace.
Warrawee Unique (Leon Bailey) went straight to the front to lead early fractions of :26.2 and :54.4. Chatelroll popped out of the pocket around the final turn and cut into Warrawee Unique's lead at three-quarters in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch, Chatelroll look like he was shot out of a cannon and flew home in 1:50. Chip Walther (Chris Long) came up to finish second. Warrawee Unique had to settle for third.
Chatelroll is a five-year-horse by Roll With Joe. He is owned by the Purple Haze Stables and trained by George Ducharme. It was his ninth win of the season and 20th of his career.
