Audreys Dream Wins Flamboro Preferred

Audreys Dream ($32.80) earned his first victory in Ontario since dominating Alberta's Open ranks throughout the summer, winning Sunday night's featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs.

McKinney (Denis St Pierre) pocketed Saulsbrook Peach (Robert Shepherd) through a :27 opening quarter and was challenged by Paparazzi Hanover (Travis Cullen) through middle splits of :56.1 and 1:24. Meanhwhile, Audreys Dream and Ed Hensley tipped second-over from fourth and stormed home to nose out Mckinney at the wire in 1:53 flat. Beast Mode (Paul MacKenzie) had the slight advantage in a three-way photo for show, finishing two and a half lengths behind the top pair. Favourite Boomboom Ballykeel (Alfie Carroll) closed from the back of the pack to finish fourth.

Audreys Dream put together a 10-race win streak competing against Alberta's Open pacers at Century Downs from May through August. He now has 11 wins from 19 starts this year and over $71,000 in purse earnings. The eight-year-old Rocknroll Hanover-Belovedangel gelding is owned by trainer Ashleigh Hensley and driver Ed Hensley, who recently moved their stable to Ontario.

There was another upset in the $7,500 Preferred 3 as longshot Haydens Little Man ($35.10) and catch-driver J Harris secured a pocket trip from the trailing tier and then sped past pacesetter Jake Parrish (Nick Steward) in the stretch to win by three and a half lengths in 1:53.3. Favourite High Flier (Paul MacKenzie) journeyed first over to finish third. Haydens Little Man, a four-year-old son of American Ideal, is trained by Jason Ryan and owned by Jeffrey Potok.
