Salazar Takes NJSS Green Acres

Salazar, with Hall of Famer Cat Manzi driving, swept to the lead at the three-quarter mile mark and never looked back in winning the $50,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres Final for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings in 1:53.4 today at Freehold Raceway

The gelded son of Mcardle crossed the finish line five and three-quarter lengths ahead of the pacesetter, Redneck Riveria (Red River Hanover). Finishing third was Upfront Red River (Red River Hanover).

It was Salazar’s fifth consecutive victory in NJSS Green Acres competition, giving him a sweep of the series. He has now won eight of 18 races this year with purse earnings of $72,359 in 2009 and $83,929 overall for his career.

John Wagner trains the pacer for co-owners John and Frank Denison of Maryland.
