Leamington Raceway will turn pink this Sunday, Sept. 27 as Harness the Hope returns for an afternoon of racing, fundraising and family activities in support of breast cancer initiatives.
Post time is 1 p.m., with fans encouraged to wear pink for a chance to win. Fans wearing pink can enter the Tuff Enuff to Wear Pink Contest by filling out a ballot at the Harness the Hope table.
There will be a 50/50 draw and a Harness the Hope swag table with t-shirts, hoodies, hats, gifts and more available for purchase.
Other activities include a colouring contest and glitter tattoos for kids. There will also be prizes for the Best Dressed Horse and Best Dressed Groom, sponsored by Wilson’s Tack and Mare Flare Equestrian, as well as named race blanket presentations, trackside winner’s circle photos and giveaways.
All proceeds from Harness the Hope will support breast cancer research, awareness, support programs and care packages for those facing cancer.
The feature races of the afternoon are a $6,500 conditioned optional claiming pace and a $6,500 conditioned trot.
The six-horse pacing feature in race seven is headlined by 2-1 morning line favourite Dapper Fella, who comes into the race off a victory at Leamington on Sept. 20 for driver David Edwards and trainer Michael Stamp. Dresden Raceway's Little Saratoga champion Skip The Honey is the 3-1 second choice from the outside post. Driven by Garrett Rooney, the lightly raced four-year-old boasts an impressive 2026 record of seven wins from eight starts for trainer Gregory Drew.
A former Lakeshore Trot winner in 2022, Spun From Magic returns to Leamington and headlines the co-feature in race nine as the 8-5 early favourite from the outside post five. Lorne House will drive the Cassidy Schneider trainee, who was a Preferred 3 winner this summer at Hiawatha Horse Park and has been top three in his last three starts competing at Hanover Raceway.
