Machinthesand was upset bound in the Sunday afternoon (September 24) feature at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway.

Ken Murphy, who had three winners on the 13-dash program, engineered the patient trip to the winner's circle. He stalked from fourth on the rail in the $2,200 dash while Minor Wisdom (driven by Ryan Desroche) rolled the front end. Minor Wisdom's fractions were :27.1 at the quarter and 56 seconds at the half-mile marker before he battled with Allstar Seelster (Norris Rogers) at the 1:26 three-quarters. Machinthesand was still over six lengths back at the third station, but gobbled up ground in the last quarter to win in 1:57.1. Rash B Havior (Gary Chappell) was second in a huge effort after having made a break at the start. Old Buck (Jason Hughes) completed the triactor ticket.

Machinthesand is trained by Hughie Murphy for owners Noonan Holdings and Russell and Karen Noonan of Summerside. Driver Ken Murphy also visited the winner's enclosure after a 1:59.2 score with Southfield Sue for Vance Cameron of Summerside and Shouldabeenaclown in 1:59.3 for trainer Edgar Stewart of Ellerslie.

Pictonian Storm had the fastest win of the day in the $1,700 back-up class with a 1:56.1 victory for owner Walter Simmons of Summerside and trainer Austin Sorrie as one of four wins on the day for driver Chappell. The Charlottetown reinsman's other wins were with Blazing By in 1:59 from his own stable and a pair of winners from the stable of Phil Sizer, including Western Sexy in 2:02.1 and Windemere Johnny in 2:01.3.

Cyrax remained perfect on red soil with a 1:57 win for his second victories in as many starts for owner-trainer Barry Biggar of Summerside. It was the third win of the day for driver Dale Spence, as the Tyne Valley resident also won with Montana Ben in 1:57.2 for Mike Ramsay of Summerside and with Myambrose in 1:58.4 for trainer Carl MacDougall of Ellerslie.

Jason Hughes recorded a driving double as he solidifies his place in second place on the Summerside driving standings. His wins were in a maiden-breaking score with Woodmere Ideal Art in 2:01.2 from the Ultimate Stable of New Brunswick and with Revelry Seelster in 2:03.1 for owner-trainer Rocky Schurman of Summerside.
