Naughtytiltheend, a three-year-old pacing filly by Western Ideal, and Big Payout, a three-year-old trotting colt by Yankee Glide, set New Jersey Sire Stakes records Friday
afternoon when they won their $35,000 Green Acres Divisional Championships at Freehold Raceway.
Both were driven by Andy Miller, who had led the third NJSS Green Acres title race to the top of the stretch with Raysofgrace De Vie, before fading to sixth. Photogenic Legs, a three-year-old trotting filly by Classic Photo, won that contest.
Naughtytiltheend led from start to finish and pulled away to win by more than eight lengths over Ready To Rocknroll in a record-setting 1:52.3. Her clocking easily eclipsed the previous Green Acres mark of 1:53.4 by Dreamlands Latte in 2008. Trained by Erv Miller, Naughtytiltheend scored her sixth win in 21 starts for the Diamond Creek Farm of Paris, Kentucky.
Big Payout made a first-over move at the three-quarter mile mark and overtook Jonah E Hanover in the stretch to win by a by a length and a quarter in a Green Acres record 1:57.1. Mamas Boo Bear finished third. The Julie Miller-trained colt erased the previous mark of 1:57.3 by Bar Exam in 2004. It was the fourth victory in 13 races this year for Big Payout, who is owned by Rex Moats and Larry Taylor of Fairfield, Illinois, and Andy Miller of Millstone Township, New Jersey.
The Trond Smedshammer-trained filly Photogenic Legs benefitted from a patient drive from George Brennan, closed in the stretch and won by one length over Yansky in 1:57.2. Reviewer finished third.
