The Pick 5 proved elusive for a second straight program on Monday night, Sept. 23 at MGM Yonkers Raceway, triggering a $37,254.78 carryover and a $100,000 guaranteed pool in the sequence on Tuesday night, Sept. 24.
The guarantee in the Pick 5 is being offered as part of the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program. Free past performances for the Pick 5, courtesy of TrackMaster, will be available at the USTA website. The Pick 5, which begins in race five, has a takeout rate of 20 per cent.
One of the results that led to the Pick 5 not being hit came in the $52,703 Invitational Pace as 15-1 Himself N, driven by Anthony Napolitano, won from first-over in 1:52.4 for co-owner/trainer Lance Hudson and co-owner William Hartt. Covered Bridge (Jordan Stratton) was second and My Ultimate Byron A (Austin Siegelman) finished third.
A seven-year-old Sportswriter gelding, Himself N won for the 19th time and has now earned $379,813. He paid $33.20 to win and led a $200 exacta and a $622 trifecta.
Yonkers will have cards on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday the remainder of this week, and then starting next week, the oval will switch back to the Monday through Friday live schedule, with Wednesdays replacing Saturdays. Post time remains at 7 p.m. (EDT).
