Dream On A Roll ($10.80) and Leon Bailey captured the $6,000 featured fillies & mares pace on Friday, Sept. 22.
One Hand Keg Stand (Truman Gale) went straight to the front and was first to the quarter in :27. She used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.2. As they raced around the final turn, Special Olivia (Steeven Genois) came up to challenge for the lead and One Hand Keg Stand went off stride. Special Olivia was first to three-quarters in 1:24.4. As they reached the stretch, Special Olivia held the lead. Lorrie Sue (Frank Affrunti) came inside as Dream On A Roll squeezed even further inside. Dream On A Roll got by to win by a nose while Lorrie Sue had to settle for second. The Moma Dance (Barton Dalious) finished third due to the disqualification of Special Olivia.
Dream On A Roll is a seven-year-old mare by Roll With Joe. The win was her fifth win of the season from 20 starts and her 20th career victory. She is owned by Todd Santoro and trained by Gary Gibson.
Bailey drove three winners on the card. John MacDonald had a driving double.
Live harness racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday, Sept. 16 with an 11-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
