Rock Concert rocked around her Sudbury Downs venue on Saturday night to complete a sweep of the Young Guns Pacing Series.
Driver David Dowling sent the three-year-old Rocknroll Hanover filly first over from fifth to win the $28,400 series final in 1:58.4 over the 'good' surface. Rock Concert defeated 42-1 longshot Only In America (Mario Rivest) by nearly two lengths and fellow elimination winner All Over The World (Justin Turcotte). Pacesetter Neutrons Champ (Wayne MacLean) faded to fourth.
The slight second choice paid $6.70 to win.
After going winless in eight freshman starts, Rock Concert has put together a sophomore record reading 5-2-3 in 20 outings while pushing her bankroll to nearly $95,000. She is owned by Guelph, Ont. trainer Bob Young, Brian Barton of Carlisle, Ont., David Garrett of Burlington, Ont., and Guelph's Stand In Line Stable.
The Young Guns Series is for pacers that are five years old and younger, non-winners of three races or $40,000 lifetime (fillies and mares four races or $50,000 lifetime). Winners of over $80,000 lifetime are not eligible. No additional allowances. Conditions as of midnight, Saturday, August 18, 2012.
