Keepin The Chips, driven by Corey Callahan, tied the World Record for three-year-old trotting geldings on a five-eighths mile track Wednesday at Harrah’s Chester

.

In his 10th race conditioning assignment, Keepin The Chips ($4.60) followed longshot Proud Moment (Eric Goodell) past stations of :27, :56 and 1:24.2 before unleashing a :28.4 final frame to secure the two length score in a world record clocking of 1:53.3. Proud Moment was second with Soapy Sap (Cat Manzi) finishing just over two lengths back in third.

The time of the mile equaled the gelding record set by Shermans Mountain in June 2009 at Pocono Downs and Rembrandt Spur in September 2009 at The Meadows. Temple Of Doom holds the three-year-old colt record of 1:52.4, taken in the Zweig Memorial Trot at Tioga Downs this past August.

Ken Rucker trains the popular son of Lockkeeper-Chips Bride, who has won five times in 12 starts this year, for Brooke Vermett of Mokena, Illinois. The lion’s share of the $12,000 purse pushed his earnings to $43,470 for 2010 and $51,247 lifetime.
