With a pair of $6,500 Pop Up Series divisions on the Friday evening, Sept. 20 program at Grand River Raceway, Steadyaswego not only stole the show with the swifter divisional performance time, she did it in career-best fashion in 1:54.1.
As the second leg of the series, the Pop-Up Series was open to fillies and mares not averaging $650 per start in 2024 with a minimum of 10 starts and also eligible were leg one starters.
Steadyaswego (Garrett Rooney) was relentless in achieving the pacesetter position for the mile and she commanded the field with splits in :26.4, :56.3 and 1:25.1. Maintaining at least a two-length gap on her competitors, Steadyaswego was able to go on cruise control to a two-length score in 1:54.1. Bettor Deal (Daryl Thiessen) pocketed second and Miss Sophia Rose (Jason Ryan) was third.
Steadyaswego (All Bets Off-Flight Of An Angel) is owned by breeders Brittany Kennedy and Moneyclip Racing along with Shawn Bustin. She won her second race of the year and eighth career race from 39 starts. She returned $2.70 to win.
Snake Eyes Hanover ($4.90) took the second division by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.3 with Austin Sorrie in the bike for trainer Riley Simpson and owner Shen Guo. The four-year-old Betting Line-Spells Well mare recorded her fifth win of the year -- second in the Pop-Up Series -- and her ninth career tally.
