Bee Two Bee Prevails In Charlottetown Preferred Photo

Bee Two Bee received the garden journey in Saturday's Preferred Pace and turned it into triumph at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The $4,500 Preferred Pace had Wind Blown (Paul Langille) bounce to the lead in the :27.3 opening quarter then set splits of :56.2 and 1:24.4 with race favourite Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) watching in the two-hole. In the stretch, Bee Two Bee reached up through the passing lane to win by a neck in 1:52.4 for trainer Ashley Gamester and Island owners Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown. Wind Blown was second ahead of the first-up Roll Em (Marc Campbell) in the three-across finish.

Bee Two Bee, a seven-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam, earned his second consecutive win and 29th victory lifetime.

The Corey MacPherson stable tripled up during the 13-race card, starting with Langille driving Howmac Exclusive to a 1:57.4 upset at 17-1 in the race three Wade Poole Memorial. MacPherson drove Evil Vintage to a placed-first victory in the race seven Silverhill Buddy Retirement Pace in 1:56.1 and Mr Rielly to a 1:56.1 win in race 11.

The race six David Cook Memorial went to Solid Silver (Ken Murphy) in 1:56.3 for trainer Stacey Darrach.

Driver Marc Campbell scored a triple with Talk Some Smack (1:57.3) for trainer Todd Walsh in race five, the streaking Heave Away (1:54.3) from the Walter Walker barn in race 10 and Bacononabiscuit (1:55) for trainer Adam Merner in the race 13 finale.

Live harness racing continues on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Red Shores Summerside featuring an all-stakes cards with the Atlantic Sires Stakes.
