Ontario-sired pacing mare Camille scored her first Canadian victory on Friday night in Mohawk Racetrack's $35,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace since earning back-to-back wins in the Ellamony Classic and Masters Series earlier this summer.
The Ron Burke trainee delivered on her pari-mutuel promise as she swept from last to first in the Friday night feature with Rick Zeron at the helm. Camille kicked home in :27.4 to prevail in the seven-horse affair by a neck in 1:50.2 over the late-closing David Menary stablemates Tea Party Princess (Scott Zeron) and Modern Connection (Chris Christoforou) while pacesetter Monkey On My Wheel (Jack Moiseyev) settled for fourth.
The four-year-old Camluck mare, who is nine-for-17 on the year with $290,000 banked in purses, is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, M1 Stable LLC, and Jack Piatt.
Camille paid $3.80 to win as the bettors' choice.
