According to a report on boston.com, Massachusetts House of Representatives speaker Robert A. DeLeo has thrown his support behind expanded gambling in the state
, which could lead to video lottery terminals being installed at Plainridge Racetrack and Raynham Park.
The article cites DeLeo as stating that slot machines could be installed quickly at the racetracks, which would in turn bring new revenues to state coffers. He said the move would give casino companies more time to build resort casinos in the state.
"Given the importance of economic development, as well as the vital need for revenue, I have expanded my thinking," DeLeo was quoted as saying. “In addition to my backing of slots, I now support resort casinos."
