The La Framboise boys struck again at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday (Sept. 20) when their five-year-old Justice Hall gelding Lestenpercent won for the third-straight time in the $9,200 Preferred Handicap Trot.
Lestenpercent landed sixth from post 7 while Boo Thang slid to the lead by a :27.4 first quarter. Boo Thang slowed the tempo to a :57.1 half as driver Rod La Framboise tipped Lestenpercent first over from the backfield. He nabbed cover up the backstretch from LMC Mass Gem as Cheque The Magic swept from third to the lead by three-quarters in 1:27. LMC Mass Gem then powered to the lead into the stretch but promptly gave way to Lestenpercent as he strode to a two-and-three-quarter length victory in 1:56.1. Hat Trick Marleau rallied for third.
Owned by trainer Paul Laframboise, Lestenpercent won his seventh race from 14 starts this season and his 15th from 64 overall, earning $74,965. He paid $4.20 to win.
Kwik Talkin kicked off cover into the final turn to pull a 12-1 upset in the $9,200 Preferred Pace.
Take The Deal parked National Debt to a :27 quarter and continued to duel that challenger through fractions of :56 and 1:23.4. Meanwhile driver Clarke Steacy wound up Kwik Talkin from fifth and swept towards the lead nearing the top of the stretch. National Debt dug in to try and hold the lead late but Kwik Talkin edged by in the final strides to win by a head in 1:53.1 with Avatar J finishing third.
Trained and owned by Scott Henry, Kwik Talkin won his fourth race from 14 starts this season and his 12th from 50 overall, earning $195,328. He paid $27.30 to win.
