Inspired Art closed out the 2014 season of harness racing at St. John's Racing & Entertainment Centre with a seven length romp in the final Preferred Pace on Saturday afternoon.
Leaving from his assigned outside post five, Inspired Art went wire-to-wire in 2:03.4 under the direction of driver Dennis Lambert Jr. The nine-year-old gelding earned his fourth win in a row and seventh in 10 Preferred starts this meet for leading trainer Scott Forward and owner Elizabeth Courtney of Maddox Cove, Newfoundland. Muzzysenglishbaby held off Dans Ideal in the race for place.
The meet closing card featured the $2,000 Newfoundland Stake for two and three-year-olds, sponsored by Meridian Farms, and Son Of Rocknroll was victorious by more than three lengths in 2:06 with local trainer, driver and owner Daniel William aboard. The sophomore son of Rocknroll Hanover now has back-to-back Newfoundland stakes wins and is seven-for-12 on the year. Salmonier Storm and Silverhill Legacy finished second and third, respectively.
