Le Massif (Steeven Genois) charged late at 21-1 to capture the $10,135 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Monday (Sept. 2).
War Of Will (Leon Bailey) quickly grabbed command to lead the field of five to the quarter in :28. War Of Will continued to have things his way to the half in :57.2, then on to three-quarters in 1:25.2.
As they made the turn for home Syracuse Express (John MacDonald) popped the pocket while Le Massif ($44.00) came three-wide. Second place finisher Syracuse Express took a slight lead before Le Massif came flying by to win by a quarter of a length in 1:54.1. War Of Will had to settle for third money in the three-across finish.
Le Massif is a five-year-old horse by Shanghai Phil and owned by Laurent Pednault and trainer Melanie Boulianne. It was his fifth win in 2024 and 13th victory in his career.
John MacDonald drove four winners on the card, winning with Rock Solid Express, Docdor Friskie, Jericho Willie, and On The Take.
