Vics Royal Lady, sent off the 3-1 third choice, went wire to wire in the $8,000 Walker Invitational Trot at Hanover Raceway on Saturday, September 2.
Setting fractions of :28.1, :58.3, and 1:28.1, Vics Royal Lady's lone challenge came from Facing Justice, left first over at three-quarters before faltering around the turn. At the top of the stretch, Vics Royal Lady was two lengths in front of Federal Army in second while Justcallmeronald and Twofourroadie closed from off cover. Vics Royal Lady won by a length-and-a-half at the line over Justcallmeronald, with Twofourroadie, with broken equipment, finishing third.
A five-year-old mare by Angus Hall out of the Mr Vic mare Royal Vic, Vics Royal Lady won her 15th race in 69 starts, amassing $98,099 in earnings. Owned by trainer Alvin Hamilton with partners Thomas McMann, Jeff Waugh, Jeff Packer, and driven by Natasha Day, she paid $8.00 to win.
