Canadian Premier Yearling Sale Results

Some names familiar to harness racing were active participants in the recently concluded 2017 Canadian Premier Yearling Sale held at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion in Toronto.

A total of 204 yearlings sold Thursday for $3,630,000 with an average of $17,794. The sale boasted a higher gross from its 2016 edition with more horses sold, but the average dipped from $19,236 in 2016.

Among those active as buyers from the Standardbred side were Ben Wallace (as Wallace Standardbreds) and Aaron Waxman.

Three colts fetched the highest price of the sale, all selling for $85,000

Hip #120, a Bay Colt by Victor’s Cry selling for $85,000. The colt out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare, Vulcan Rose, was purchased by William Scott and consigned by Susan Y. Foreman, Agent for Phoenix Rising Farms.

Hip #262, a Chestnut Colt by Not Bourbon selling for $85,000. The colt out of the Giant’s Causeway mare, Internallyflawless, was purchased by Roger Attfield and consigned by Richard G. Hogan, Agent.

Hip #295, a Chestnut Colt by Victor’s Cry selling for $85,000. The colt out of the Grand Slam mare, Miss Dragonfly, was purchased by Barry Kerbel and consigned by Richard G. Hogan, Agent.
