The 59th annual Pre-Jug Mixed Sale took place on August 31 and September 1 and featured black-type yearlings along with several hundred racehorses.
The first Dejarmbro yearlings to hit the sales were led by Impress The Best at $20,000. Consigned by Hickory Lane Farm, the striking black colt out of Lexis Electra was purchased by Mary Timura of Ohio. The initial Ohio eligible crop of McArdle’s was led by Fritas Rose at $17,000. Consigned by Jake Schwarts the daughter of Margarita Frita was purchased by Jim and Kim Dailey.
Competitive racehorses were in high demand with trainers eagerly trying to restock their stables.
Ultra-consistent high-class pacer Southwind Terror topped the sale at $48,000. Consigned by Rene Allard the five-year old son of Camluck returned to Yonkers Racetrack under the ownership of Empowered Stables LLC.
While Rene Allard brought a strong consignment to the sale, he also left with new purchases to replace them. Among these was the Open trotter Silence Son for $29,000, that happened to be the last hip number in the supplement of the 723 horses offered. Allard also got the bid on the promising three-year old full brother to Colors A Virgin for $27,000 and the handy half-mile track specialist Innocent Victim for $23,000.
The very fast aged pacer A J Corbelli p,3,1:49 $483,849 came in from Mohawk and was purchased by Tommy Householder of Ohio to compete at the state’s newly-revived tracks.
Cory Stratton of New York came shopping, specifically with Yonkers on his mind. Stratton was successful in getting the fast four-year old trotter Pasadena Star for $26,000 and the high end claimer Stone Tree for $23,000.
