‘Jack’ Attack In Grassroots

After throwing a temper tantrum Monday evening, Mother Nature took a chill pill Tuesday evening and allowed three-year-old trotting colts and geldings to take care of their OSS Grassroots business at Mohawk Racetrack.

Scheduled to go off as last night’s final division, the $18,000 division was scrapped due to a monsoon that swept through the Campbellville area. Instead, it was held as a non-wagering event prior to Tuesday evening’s 12-race card.

Jack Litten shot to the top from Post 8 for driver Doug McNair, and after slicing out splits of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:26.4 he fired home in :29.4 to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Class Me Nice in 1:56.3. Taking home third prize was Massive Pockets.

Gregg McNair trains the son of Muscle Mass-PJ Naomi for Jarold Hawks of Jeddo, Michigan, and together they watched the gelding improve this year’s record to 2-1-3 from 11 starts with the win. The $9,000 payday bumped his overall earnings to $38,962.
