Two-year-old pacing colt Chaleurs AD posted his fourth straight harness racing victory with an impressive lifetime mark Tuesday evening at the Hippodrome 3R. The victory was one of four winners on the night for driver Denis St Pierre.
It was the first actual pari-mutuel race for Chaleurs AD, as his prior four victories all had come at Quebec Fair tracks that do not feature pari-mutuel wagering.
It was not much of a battle for the son of Riggins, as Denis St Pierre sent Chaleurs AD right out to the lead and they held the field at bay, leading by two lengths for most of the mile. Then in the stretch the colt opened up to win in a romp by five and one-quarter lengths in a lifetime best clocking of 2:01.2. Rainbow Palace (Francis Picard) was second with Sandinista (Mario Charron) third.
Trained by Charles Gaudreault, it was the fifth win in six career starts for Chaleurs AD. He paid $4.70 to win as the second wagering choice in the race.
For Denis St. Pierre, his winning ways continue at the Hippodrome 3R. Pierre won the second, third, fourth and ninth races on the program and his Universal Driving Rating or “batting” average is now over .470.
