One of Ontario's most popular summer harness racing destinations, Clinton Raceway continues to do its fair share of community service work with special cards like Legends Day
and Horsin Around For Childhood Cancer.
Jessica Carnochan, Clinton Raceway's Marketing Manager states that over the last five years Clinton Raceway and its supporters have helped raised over $120,000 for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation and Legends Day has been a major force in that drive. This year's Legends Day features announcing legend Roger Huston as well as the usual all-star cast of Hall of Fame horsemen. The $20,000 Legends Day Invitational Trot will feature Doug Brown, John Campbell, Jim Doherty, Bud Fritz, Clint Galbraith, Wally Hennessy, Bill O’Donnell, Ray Remmen, and Ron Waples. Campbell will be looking for his third straight win after winning with Runway in 2007 and New Dice Please in 2009.
Clinton's 15-dash Sunday card will kick off at 1:30 p.m. The Legends Day Trot has been carded as Race 10 and holds an estimated post time of 3:50 p.m. To view the Sunday entries for Clinton Raceway, click the following link: Sunday Entries - Clinton Raceway.
In addition to this Sunday's card, the following Sunday, Sept. 11, Clinton hosts Horsin Around For Childhood Cancer in support of Childcan, an organization that helps support families whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer. In concert with cancer awareness month, Clinton Raceway is inviting all families who have been affected by childhood cancer to participate in this day at no cost to them. Clinton Raceway will provide lunch and activities to keep the little ones busy and for those wanting to support a wonderful cause in the area, a twoonie auction, face painting, freezies, popcorn, lemonade and a cookie stand will be on site.
