Pair Of Preferreds Featured At Hiawatha

Hiawatha Horse Park’s Saturday night program featured a pair of $7,200 Preferred 3 events – one for pacers and one for trotters – and it was The Comedian and Rush N Supreme who ended up in the winner's circle

In the featured pace, five-year-old gelding The Comedian ($5.20) advanced from fourth past three-quarters and got up in deep stretch to deliver on his pari-mutuel promise in 1:53.2 over a track rated “good” and one second off. Berts Casey (Lilley) finished a length and a half behind in second with Summer Sizzler (Mark Pezzarello) third.

Nick Steward drove The Comedian for trainer Travis Alexander. The son of Real Desire-Hilarious has won five times in 18 starts this year earning $23,883 for owners Mary Kratz of Manchester, Michigan and Kurt Kratz of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

In the trotting event, Mitchell Walker sent Rush N Supreme ($6.80) to the top from third past the half-mile marker and the six-year-old son of Sjs Caviar-So Far Kosmos opened up five and a half lengths en route to victory in 1:59.1. Longshot Jelly Roll (Gowan) and Terra Cotta Caddy (Dennis Morrissey) rounded out the top three.

Terrence Tomlin trains the six-year-old gelded son of Sjs Caviar-So Far Kosmos, who has won five times in 25 starts this year and earned $38,609 for Walker.
