Trained by Frank Baker, Jr., who shares ownership with Wray Wilson of Thorndale, Ont., Three Cents fired off the gate from Post 7 and carved out panels of :26.4, :57 and 1:25.3 before tripping the teletimer in a career best 1:54.3.
Second went to 15-1 shot Go Smarty Brand (Mark Williams), who finished one and a quarter lengths behind off a pocket trip, while favourite Resessitate (Glen Hardy) rallied for third.
The win was Three Cents sixth in 19 starts this season. Her 12th lifetime score lifted her earnings to $123,071.
