Standardbred Canada's 2016 Canadian Yearling Sale boasted a strong 17 per cent increase in gross sales over the 2015 edition.
Pacing-bred yearling Brunos From Mars fetched the highest price topping six figures. The son of Mach Three - Boy Meets Girl, a full brother to standouts Mach Dreamer and Drain Daddy, was purchased by Jack Darling from the Icy Stables consignment for $105,000.

"We were very happy with the sale," stated SC Sales Manager Heather Reid. "We had a huge crowd and it was a beautiful day. I'm extremely happy for the breeders and consignors."
In front of a capacity crowd on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, 144 yearlings entered the sales ring at the SC Sales Pavilion and grossed $2,972,200. That represents a 16.98 percent increase from 2015. The average dipped slightly but was still very strong at $20,640, with 25 more horses sold than the previous year.

"We started going up last year, with our average way up," Reid said. "The positivity has continued this year. We sold more horses and we saw the sale gross increase dramatically.

"There is clearly some very positive energy among buyers and horsepeople, excited about their new prospects."
