After winning his $65,000 division of the Quebec Championship last week, Kingston Panic came right back to Hippodrome 3R on Sunday, Sept. 17 and notched his third straight win.

Competing in the $3,400 seventh race pace, Spectrum Seelster (Pascal Berube) cut the mile from the start with Maximus GB (Danny Darveau) sitting the pocket trip as they sped by the first quarter in :28.1 and the half mile in :57.4. Then, Kingston Panic and driver Robert Shepherd, the wagering favourites, moved first-over and pressured Spectrum Seelster to the three-quarters in 1:26.3. But Spectrum Seelster would not give up and kept Kingston Panic parked out around the final turn. In deep stretch, Kingston Panic was able to pass by Spectrum Seelster to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.1. Maximus GB was third.

Trained by David Pilon, Kingston Panic (sired by Sportswriter) is owned and bred by the estate of Brian Paquet. He paid $3 to win.

In the 10th race Preferred Pace with a purse of $5,000, Born A Rebel and driver Stephane Brosseau were able to find clearance from post nine and go to the lead. Never looking back, the pair upset the field at odds of 13-1 with a one-length triumph in 1:57 over Uncontrollable (Francis Picard), with Kiss Me Bad (Steven Gagnon) third.

The win was the fifth win on the year for Born A Rebel (sired by Betterthancheddar), who is owned and trained by Jack Reid. He paid $29.70 to win.
