Juan Cano darted off a pocket ride and Yogi Sheridan swooped to the front and led the rest of the way to bag their respective $9,900 divisions for the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Pace over a sloppy going at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 17).
Cano cleared command in the first division with 2-1 favourite Its Showtime before yielding the lead to Paprike Blue Chip (William Clark Jr.) past a :27.3 first quarter. Situated behind the leader, Cano coasted in the slipstream through a :56.3 half and to three-quarters in 1:25.1. Its Showtime emerged from the pocket turning for home and surged clear to a 2-1/4-length victory in 1:54.4 over Paprike Blue Chip while Katana (Joe Lee) gave chase in third and Rock To Glory (Bruno Chiodo) took fourth.
Juan Cano conditions Its Showtime, a six-year-old gelding by Captaintreacherous, for owners Ultra Championship Racing LLC and Sean Loebs. He paid $6.80 to win.
Yogi Sheridan and Musical Box grabbed the lead from 9-5 favourite Im Burlington N (Cameron Capone) past a :26.4 first quarter in the second division and rolled through the remainder. With Im Burlington N slowly backing through the field, Musical Box carried his speed to a :55.1 half and strolled up the backside to three-quarters in 1:25 as Hurrymiki Hanover (Juan Cano) mounted a first-over challenge out of third. Musical Box promptly rebuffed the bid coming for home and widened to a 2-1/4-length victory in 1:55.1 with Hurrymiki Hanover holding second. All In Jest (Adrian Wisher Jr.) closed for third and TJ Blast (Brandon Filion) finished fourth.
Jamal Williams trains Musical Box, a six-year-old gelding by Net Ten EOM, for owner Winning Action LLC. He paid $8.60 to win.
