American JJ won the featured $7,200 trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Sept. 17).
American JJ forged right to the front and led to the first quarter in :28.4. He slowed things way down using a second quarter in :31.1 to be first to the half in 1:00. Bet Big On Blue was first to make a move going first-up heading around the final turn. American JJ led to three-quarters in 1:29.1.
As they reached the stretch, American JJ was still in control. Southwind Falcon popped out of the pocket and was gaining with every stride. American JJ dug in and won in 1:58. Southwind Falcon had to settle for second. Bet Big On Blue finished third.
American JJ is a nine-year-old gelding by Jailhouse Jesse. He is owned by Lewis and Lisa Miller and trained by Hannah Miller. It was his third win this season and his 31st victory overall. Michael Miller drove the $9 winner.
Leon Bailey, Steeven Genois, and Truman Gale each drove two winners on the card.
