Drafting pacesetter Tables Big Secret, Outlaw Imahotvixen vacated pocket entering the stretch to nail the 8-5 favourite at the finish and take the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Tables Big Secret secured the lead from post 4 while Outlaw Imahotvixen slid into the pocket rounding the first turn. The slight favourite set fractions of :28 and :58 while unchallenged on the lead but quickened to three-quarters in 1:26 when pressed by first-over Dazzling Rockette. Dazzling Rockette retreated around the final turn, leaving a seam for Outlaw Imahotvixen to angle outside and edge past Tables Big Secret to win by a head in 1:54. Dazzling Rockette held third.
Co-owned by trainer Jodie Cullen with Ronald Cullen, Outlaw Imahotvixen won her fourth race from 31 starts this season and her 18th from 92 overall, earning $179,603. Travis Cullen drove the five-year-old Blue Burner mare who paid $5.60 to win.
Team Cullen came back later in the card to wire the $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace with even-money favourite Twice An Angel.
The six-year-old Dragon Again mare pushed for the front from the pylon post while Fina Patina floated into the pocket and Make Mine Mocha into third. Twice An Angel paced to the first quarter in :29.3 and endured a first-over challenge from Make Mine Mocha through a :57.1 half and three-quarters in 1:25. She then scooted away from Make Mine Mocha entering the stretch to win by two-and-a-half lengths in a 1:54 mile. Make Mine Mocha settled for second while Sudden Passing closed for third.
Co-owned by trainer Jodie Cullen with Jerry Hagenaars, Twice An Angel won her fifth race from 30 starts this season and her 17th from 122 overall, earning $179,812. Travis Cullen drove the $4.20 winner.
