Scarlet Patti made it five-in-a-row when she won her division of the PEI Colt Stakes for two-year-old trotters on Thursday evening at the Charlottetown Driving Park
.
Scarlet Patti, owned by Gordon MacLean of Winsloe, PE, showed why she was the post time favourite as she cruised to a four-length victory in her $4,000 contest for driver Daryl MacLean. The 2:06 clocking was a new lifetime mark for the filly, who defeated Porter and Diamond Mine.
The other two-year-old divisional winners were Rustico Nicky (2:07.3), B J Eldorado (2:09.2) and Howmacs Amigo (2:07.3).
There were a pair of $5,500 splits for three-year-old trotters, with Grayland Bling (2:03.3) and Oyster Bed Mary (2:03.3) taking home the hardware in their respective events.
Rebelryan, under the command of Marc Campbell, won a $1,700 conditioned pace in 2:00.1 turning back Buck Barker and Southview Angie. The Kevin MacLean trainee scored in gate-to-wire fashion.
The PEI Colt Stakes continues with a double header on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Racing returns to the Summerside Raceway Sunday afternoon at 1p.m.
