It’s extremely rare for lightning to strike twice, but it appears Spring Haven Farm may have discovered a solution to attain rarified air as Corazon, a full brother to Tu Eres Mi Corazon, who equaled the highest-price ever paid for an Ohio-bred Standardbred ($150,000) at the 2017 Ohio Selected Jug Sale, fetched $115,000 to become the highest priced purchase at this year’s version of the same event on Friday (Sept. 14) at the Brave Horse Show Park in Johnstown, Ohio.

Although the brown son of Uncle Peter-Corazon Blue Chip bears a striking resemblance to his sister, he is also a half-brother to 2017 Dan Patch Award winner Fourth Dimension. In fact, Courant Inc., the very same owner of that horse, signed the sales slip for this yearling.

Corazon went through the ring as Hip No. 94. Senena Esty, proprietor of Spring Haven Farm and co-breeder with Doug Millard Holdings USA Inc., was hopeful this colt would prove to attract just as much attention as his older family members. Her innermost feelings proved to be correct.

“We bought the dam in foal (with Fourth Dimension) at Harrisburg in 2014,” Esty said in 2017. “She is just a gorgeous mare and has passed on her looks. We have a full brother to this filly (Tu Eres Mi Corazon) that we are very excited about.”

On the pacing side, McSchnell, Hip No. 150, was procured by Alan Keith as the highest priced yearling of the sale on that gait.

A son of the venerable McArdle, McSchnell was consigned to the sale by his breeder, LMN Bred Stables Inc., who were also responsible for the third highest priced horse in last year’s sale in Majestic Lexi ($95,000).

Out of The Panderosa mare Pantathlon, this colt is a half brother to Pan From Nantucket ($570,801), Rosemary Rose ($329,532) and Rockathon ($310,727). Only one of this mare’s seven progeny has failed to reach the winner’s circle in a pari-mutuel event.
