Wins have been tough to come by this season for pacer Act Now, but a Tuesday evening trip to Flamboro Downs sure took care of that problem in a hurry.

The four-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-CPA went into the assignment with an 0-for-9 record to start the season, but Paul MacKenzie power drove her to a 1:53 triumph in Tuesday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2.

Act Now shot to the lead from Post 3 and whizzed through splits of :27.1, :55.1 and 1:23 before cruising home in a :30-second clip en route to the win by 2-1/4 lengths over Pictonian Sareta. Drivingthedragon N rounded out the Triactor ticket.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, Act Now posted the win for owners Joseph Davino of Clarksburg, NJ and Patrick O’Brien of New Hyde Park, NY. John Drennan trains the career winner of $519,189.
