Fayco Filly and Brad Hanners found enough daylight in the stretch and sprinted past the pacesetting Crown Time Keeper (Chris Page) to win the featured $42,176 Ohio Breeders Championship for two-year-old filly pacers on the opening day card at the Delaware County Fair.

When the wings of the gate folded, the field quickly sat in post-position order. Kyle Ater sent the heavily favoured Shakin Friskie to challenge Crown Time Keeper past the half in 1:00.4 and three-quarters in 1:30.1. But the pocket-sitting Fayco Filly found room and won by one and a quarters lengths in 1:59.2.

The daughter of Dave Panlone is conditioned by Virgil Morgan Jr. for Martial Property LLC and Ackley Racing Stable, both of Washington Court House, Ohio.

In the first $21,088 division of the freshman filly pace, Ater drove Rosy Fire to an open length victory in 1:58.4. The daughter of Feelin Friskie is owned by Bret Schwartz, William Lee Bean and Stephen Montemarano and trained by Mark Winters Sr.

In the Billings Amateur Trot, Bud Hatfield scored for the record-breaking sixth time at the Delaware County Fair. Hatfield and Brother Gus took the early lead and he held off the late charge of Thomas Williams and D Ws Perky Joe in 2:00.4. Hatfield owns Brother Gus, who won for the third time in 2013.

In the first Billings division, Larry Farley guided Rewrite The Rules to victory in 2:03.1. Farley owns the 10-year-old gelded son of Mr Lavec, who won for the 37th time in 203 career starts.

In the Tim Fouts Memorial Final for amateur drivers, Dillon Cox and Sharp Shuttle came from off the pace to score in 1:59. The race features the top drivers from various driving clubs from across the U.S. Cox represented the Mid-Western Amateur Drivers Association.

The Delaware County Fair will race again on Tuesday, September 17 with a post time of 12:00 Noon. The 13-race card will feature a $10,000 guaranteed Pick 4 with a 15 per cent takeout. The Pick 4 will start with race 10 and past performance lines are available at www.littlebrownjug.com.
