Parked well past the three-eighths from post nine, Drebin still had enough in the tank to capture the feature on Friday, Sept. 13 at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, an $16,081 conditioned trot.
Drebin came under late pressure inside and outside, but the three-year-old Walner-Mrs Frank gelding rose to the occasion for Aaron Merriman. He triumphed in 1:54.1, matching his career best, three lengths better than the first-over Thaler Hanover. The pocket-sitting Sonic Boomer earned show.
Tim Twaddle trains Drebin for TheStable Drebin Group. It was one of four wins for Merriman on the 12-race card.
STEVE OLDFORD, HOLTON WIN MEADOWS GLADA TROT
Steve “You’re Never Too” Oldford and Holton overpowered the field first over and rolled to an impressive win in Friday’s $13,514 leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot.
Tom “Mayhem” Svrcek (Rattling Pine) blazed the opening panel in an unrealistic :26.4, inviting an early challenge from closers. Oldford obliged, vacating the pocket, opening a daylight lead and scoring in a career-best 1:54.2. Brandon “The Prestodigitator” Presto (Troycen) rallied for second, beaten 4-3/4 lengths, while “Soarin’” Lauren Harmon (Floyd Of Rosedale) and Larry “Enzo” Ferrari (Golden Compass) completed the ticket.
Allen Sisco trains Holton, a seven-year-old Dontyouforgetit-Mamas Brokn Heart gelding who boosted his lifetime bankroll to 218,718, for Oldford Racing LLC.
