Off the 8-5 favourite, Power And Grace protected position from the inside post and drew clear to a 1:57.1 victory to take the $11,500 Preferred 2 Trot on Saturday (Sept. 12) at Flamboro Downs.

Leading by the quarter in :29, Power And Grace braced for a first-over challenge from In Secret past a :58.4 half but, as that challenger neared the leader to three-quarters in 1:27.3 he soon lost stride. Pocket-sitter Dawson Springs also went into a gallop, leaving Power And Grace on a loose lead turning for home. The five-year-old Holiday Road mare strolled to a four-and-a-quarter length score over Sortie closing to take second from Scene A Magician third.

Owned by Hartel Maintenance Inc. and Lormer McClure, Power And Grace won her seventh race from 19 starts this season and her 21st from 64 overall, earning $164,475. Brett MacDonald drove the $5.50 winner for trainer Ronald MacDonald.

Willyorwonthe wired his competition in a 1:58.2 mile to take the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot. Driver Colin Kelly cleared command from post 2 to a :28.4 first quarter with Judge Ken sitting second. By a :59.2 half, Willyorwonthe faced pressure from Sicario moving to three-quarters in 1:28.4 but turned away the challenger and scooted to a two-and-three-quarter length win over Judge Ken. Sicario settled for third.

A seven-year-old gelding by Angus Hall, Willyorwonthe won his first race from five starts this season and his 38th from 157 overall, earning $356,915. Kyle Bossence trains the $3.20 winner for owners William Brown and Phil Maguire.
