The wet weather did little to dampen the spirits of the many family members gathered at Kawartha Downs on Saturday night honouring loved ones who made contributions to horse racing and the Fraserville, Ont. racetrack.
Saturday was the first of two memorial nights Kawartha Downs will host. The second will be on September 26.
This evening, Kawartha Downs honoured Ruby Brown, Doreen and Eric Brock, Leona Wright, Ernie and Billie Brown, Ron Luke, Bruce Adams, the Fleetwood Stable (Marjorie and Earl Shea and daughter Marlene Hie) and Ann and Tom Gratton.
The track is dark next weekend when Kawartha Downs will host a NASCAR event. Racing returns on September 26 with a 7 p.m. start.
