Laneside Incontrol took command of the $6,200 overnight feature at Kawartha Downs and named her own fractions en route to a track-record victory on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Bettors Rush (William Roy) struck first from post two off the gate but was quickly pocketed by Laneside Incontrol, who powered up on the first turn for Dale Spence to lead to the quarter in :27.1. She caught a breather to the half in :57, blitzed quarter three to lengthen her advantage at the 1:24.1 third station, and tore home in :27.2 to complete the mile in 1:51.3. Bettors Rush was best of the rest, 7-1/2 lengths back, followed by Kaptainkrave (Carter Gimblett).
Laneside Incontrol lowered the 15-year-old aged-pacing-mare record of Allamerican Swift, who set the mark of 1:52 in September 2011.
The Murray Brethour-trained mare has reached the winner’s circle in all three career appearances at Kawartha, with victories in her career debut and a start in June prior to Saturday’s score. Laneside Incontrol took her fifth win of the season in 21 starts. The five-year-old daughter of Control The Moment-Laneside Lexus is 13-for-44 lifetime with earnings of $156,625 for Neville Bainbridge of Barnard Castle, England. She paid $2.70 to win.
The card also featured three $10,000 Prospect Series Leg 5A divisions for rookie trotters.
The lone male winner was Benjamin Blue Chip ($4.70), who took his second straight win in the series. The son of King Of The North-Essence Of Lindy put 2:00.1 on the timer with Nick Boyd aboard for trainer Amanda Riley.
Boyd and Riley also scored with Naughty Nickers ($4.30). The Lookslikeachpndale-Hola Lola filly was a 2:01.1 winner in the first filly split.
Snowdream Hanover ($3.80) produced the fastest clocking of the Prospect dashes with a 1:58.3 performance. Spence drove the daughter of Muscle Mass-Snowflake Hanover to the maiden win for trainer Claude Cadieux.
