Streaking Fillies Collide In P.E.I. Colt Stakes Saturday Afternoon
The stakes menu on the afternoon card features four Gold divisions carrying purses of $22,500 for fillies and $18,600 for colts, along with a deep supporting cast of Grassroots splits worth $9,300 for colts and $11,250 for fillies.
The first $22,500 Gold division lines up in the sixth race with a pair of undefeated rookie fillies going head-to-head. Saulsbrook Rolo (To be driven by Marc Campbell) sports a perfect six-for-six summary for trainer Landon Campbell. The daughter of Roll With Joe has taken a mark of 1:55.2 over Red Shores Charlottetown this season, and leaves from post two on Saturday.
Windemere Skye is also unbeaten in her career with an identical six-for-six record for trainer Earl Watts. Adam Merner picks up the catch drive — as regular pilot Marc Campbell has elected to drive his son’s trainee — and leaves from post three.
The other Gold filly event is carded as Race 10 where We Danced Anyway (David Dowling) is the 5-2 morning line choice from post one for trainer Walter Walker. The daughter of Shadow Play has been razor sharp with two victories already this season from six starts. Chief rivals include Fallon (Merner) from post seven and Bayonetta (Marc Campbell) with post five.
Race 8 is the first of two $18,600 two-year-old pacing colt Gold divisions with Tobins Gem the 5-2 morning line favourite from post two. Marc Campbell drives the son of Flameproof Hanover, whohas won three of five races so far in his career, for trainer George Rennison. Rollwiththewarden (Corey MacPherson) has won four races this year and has post three while Darbies Fancy (Merner) is fresh off a win in the Phil Pinkney Stake with rail control.
The second colt Gold split is in Race 12 and has Woodmere Mahomes set as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post two for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau after a 1:57 score his last start. Louie The Lip (Brodie MacPhee) has post one while Kapueno (Marc Campbell) gets post seven after winning the Milton Downey Memorial last start at Connell Park Raceway in Woodstock, N.B.
The Grassroots divisions will be well-represented on the afternoon card with purses of $9,300 for the colts carded as Races 1, 3, 5 (Fred & Rena Hughes Memorial), 9 and 11. The fillies Grassroots divisions will go for $11,250 slated for Races 2, 4 and 7.
Sophomore Engage In P.E.I. Colt Stakes Saturday Night

The pacer will look to add another Richard Campbell Memorial to his resume after last winning the race in 2022. Also in the field are Saulsbrook Ian (Adam Merner), Better Than Spring (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Roll Em (Marc Campbell), Nothing Bugs Me (Corey MacPherson) and Nuttin But Finesse (Mike Downey).
