Marquis Downs' opening weekend continued on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 12) with Dragon Time headlining the $3,800 Open Pace.

Dragon Time opened up a quick three-length lead out of the gate for driver Glenn Le Drew and cruised through fractions of :28.3, :59.2 and 1:28.1. Appoggiatura, driven by Clayton Braybrook, went first-over from fourth down the backstretch and applied pressure to the pacesetter on the final turn, but Dragon Time held sway to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.4 -- the fastest mile of the weekend. Appoggiatura settled for second while Therealgoods finished 2-3/4 lengths back in third.

Trevor Williams trains the six-year-old Bettors Delight gelding, who shipped in from Ontario for owners Rachel Andrew and Travis Cullen. He paid $4.50 to win as the odds-on favourite.

Le Drew and Williams teamed up for doubles on both of the Saturday and Sunday five-race programs. Their other Sunday score was courtesy of the Golden Boys Stakes runner-up Jimmydiddonegood ($3.50), who broke his maiden in 2:00.4 for owners Barry McNaughton and Roland Rey.

Five-year-old pacer Tagoras was a 1:59.4 winner on Saturday and came right back to score again on Sunday in 2:00 for trainer Clayton Braybrook with Darryl Mason in the bike. Owned and bred by Vladimir Kreker, the El Toro gelding extended his win streak to four and returned $15.30.
