Dance Step earned his third straight win in the featured $2,000 Open Pace during the first night of the 2009 standardbred meet at Marquis Downs in Saskatoon, Sask.
After scoring victories at Miami and Wawanesa in Manitoba in his previous two starts, Dance Step returned to victory lane this evening with trainer Greg Manning in the bike. The four-year-old Real Desire-Lite On Her Feet gelding moved first-up from fifth before the three-quarters mark and sprinted home in :29.3 to win by two and a half lengths in 1:56.4 over the pacesetter Barona Fivehundred (Philip Giesbrecht). Shadow Promises (Glenn LeDrew) finished third off a two-hole trip.
The win was Dance Step’s sixth of the season in 24 outings lifting his earnings to $21,666 for owners Donald Ransom of Boissevain, Keith Earle, Bill Lowrie and Bob Stremich of Winnipeg, MB. The 14-time career winner has earned $54,716 to date.
The 2009 standardbred meet runs until October 3 with live racing on Friday and Saturday evenings.
