The winner of the 2026 edition of the Whenuwishuponastar Stakes, Treacherous Nova tightened for a possible appearance in next week's Shes A Great Lady eliminations with a solid qualifying tally on Friday, Sept. 11 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Sitting second behind Just Keep Flying (Trevor Henry) through moderate opening fractions of :30 and 1:00.3, Treacherous Nova received her cue from driver Louis-Philippe Roy midway through the far turn. A neck back of the pacesetter after a 1:30.2 third quarter, Treacherous Nova uncorked a :26.3 final panel for the 1:57 decision. Just Keep Flying finished second, less than two lengths in arrears, with My Lady Sadie (Phil Hudon) completing the top trio.
Kevin Benn trains and co-owns Treacherous Nova (Captaintreacherous-Jbs Shooting Star) with Leo Fleming of Campbellville and Dennis Chadwick of Napanee, Ont. She sports a summary of 2-1-1 from six starts with $95,900 in earnings and a mark of 1:51.2 taken in the Whenuwishuponastar final.
Eliminations for the Shes A Great Lady will take place next Saturday (Sept. 19) at Mohawk.
