Canada’s oldest Standardbred stakes will resume on Thursday evening with trotting divisions of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 12-dash program gets underway at 6 p.m.
Oceanview Rumours (pictured above) has won her last four starts, including a pair of track record performances, and is the morning line favourite with post three in a $18,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes division for two-year-old trotting fillies. Adam Merner will handle the driving duties in the eighth race for the rookie daughter of Green Manalishi S who is trained by Melissa Rennie for owners Bill Roloson, Scott Roloson and Joey Aylward. Other top entries include Oceanview Nikki (Mike McGuigan) with rail control and Supreme Rockette (Gilles Barrieau) from post seven.
Race two is a $18,120 three-year-old filly trot division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes. Oceanview Daisy (Myles Heffernan Sr.) has post one as the favourite for trainer Myles Heffernan Jr., and owners Jackie Heffernan and Barry MacLeod. Her top threats are Dusty Lane Wee (Marc Campbell) from post two and Gettin Tipsy (McGuigan) from post five.
Bless Me Father will seek his third straight win in the $18,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trot colt dash in race five. Marc Campbell drives the son of Father Patrick for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Donna Van Meer. Bless Me Father will face seven rivals, including Dusty Lane Gus (Adam Merner) and Fire The Rocket (Jason Hughes).
The three-year-old trotting colts will compete in P.E.I. Colt Stakes action in race seven for a $18,120 purse. Gettin Lit and trainer/driver Mike McGuigan get the top call from post five with two straight wins in his rearview mirror for owner Jamie Whalen. Camco Laraido (Ken Murphy) is a top threat from post two along with Rocket Blast (Corey MacPherson) from post four.
Woodmere Clara (Clare MacDonald) is the top selection in the race six Animal Nutrition Association Of Canada Atlantic Division pace in overnight action.
